“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is right around the corner, so Sony decided to ramp up awareness for the July 7 release with a very entertaining viral marketing gimmick.
The movie studio partnered with Thinkmodo to prank unsuspecting Starbucks customers, who were rattled when the web-slinger casually swung in from the ceiling to pick up his order.
Tom Holland‘s stunt double, Chris Silcox, is the man in the mask in the video (above), which captured reactions ranging from shock and horror to total joy.
The clip took two days to shoot, and even features a cameo from none other than former writer and VP of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee.
The “Spider-Man: Homecoming” cast includes Holland as the teenage web-slinger, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as the villain Vulture, Zendaya as Michelle and Donald Glover, whose role has yet to be revealed.
Reviews from those lucky enough to see advance screenings of the Marvel-Sony collaboration have already hit, and so far, viewers seemed pleased with Holland’s first solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after debuting in “Captain America: Civil War.”
